Samphire + Ginger Lily + Tansey

Hedychium spicatum Sm. - Ginger Lily Root (Kapoor Kachri)

Origin: India

Plant part: Roots

Source: Wildcrafted

Method: Steam-distilled

Description

Ginger Lily Root (Kapoor Kachri) Essential Oil is a real find. Kapoor Kachri is the Indian Spiked Ginger Lily. The essential oil is made from the root and has an earthiness and depth and slowly rising from within that a note of hidden light. It gets the blood flowing. It makes us aware of our circulation and the hidden rivers of energy in our body. Along with circulation it helps with respiration. It reminds us that we are always part of the flow, of water, of air, of time. It takes us into the depths of the earth, reminds us that the process that breaks down the old, creates the fuel for the new. There’s a top note that uniquely emerges only slowly after the base notes, like the seed of light from the darkness. It helps with grief and memory. It helps us let go. Its inner blend of earth and celestial realms makes it really magical.

Ginger Lily Root touches a turning point within of what needs to be let go of so deep transformation and healing can take place. It touches the heart and allows love to flow. This creates a feeling of vulnerability and gentleness that seems to ooze from all one’s cells. Tears of joy, sweetness and love can flow. At the same time the earthy notes keep things grounded and help us move on in our lives. To us it’s the new emblematic aroma of the Mortificatio stage, since we have chosen to no longer use Palo Santo, because it is critically endangered. We have been looking for a replacement for Palo Santo due to sustainability issues and we thought this may be the one. However, it appears there may be sustainability issues regarding this oil, which Jah is continuing to research. This is why we are selling it in 2ml bottles only. This could well be the only batch we sell.

Crithimum maritimum L. - Samphire

Origin: Croatia

Plant part: Leaves and Flowers

Method: Steam-distilled

Description

I suspect that samphire is a real power-plant, alluded to in Shakespeare’s ‘King Lear’, but that it has fallen into obscurity and been forgotten. To me it has to do with reconnecting with the wild sacred masculine. The plants grows in rocks above the sea, and King Lear thought the harvesting of it was a ‘dreadful trade’ to climb the rocks to collect it. But it clearly must have been worth engaging in such a dangerous practice. The aroma is fresh, light and herbacious, maybe a little like rosemary, but there is a hidden depth, which reminds me almost of palo santo (which we are no longer using). Samphire essential oil helps us focus on the task ahead (like the harvester climbing the rocks to collect it) and I think it’s a powerful ally for protection from dark and negative forces. I think it can bring light into the darkness. It can keep us from getting lost or going astray with distractions.

Tanacetum vulgare L. - Tansey

Origin: France

Plant part used: Flowering tops

Source: Wild-crafted

Method: Steam distillation

Description

We are excited to have this wild French tansy essential oil. Please do not confuse this oil with Blue Tansy (Tanectum anuum), which is much gentler than this oil! I have always liked tansy, I used to grow it in my garden in France and loved the smell. I would use it to deter insects from coming into the farm by hanging tansy in the doorways and windows. It is also well known as a vermifuge due to its high levels of ketones (mainly thujone).

We use it as a ‘flying oil.’ In the alchemical stage of sublimatio, we rise above our lives to gain a higher and newer perspective. We look at the patterns, the links and the overall dynamics of our lives from the view point of an eagle. Ketone-rich oils help us do this, as they have a dis-incarnated aspect them. They seem to be used to being not fully embodied.

This oil is also for for ancestral work. It has been traditionally used in funerals and symbolizes death and re-birth. It was put around the body in the coffin in order to slow down decomposition. It was said to guide the spirits of the dead on their journey. There is a similarity here with marigold essential oil. We use it to connect with the healthy ancestors and to accompany the wounded dead or ghosts back to the ancestral clan for healing.

Tansy is also a guide for the ancestral pathways. I feel it has an affinity for helping us to move through portals. Fort example in a genogram, I saw quite clearly the portal in my tree where I had journeyed not only to re-align the tree but to heal myself and this ancestral wound. Tansy helps us go through this portal and see the work that needs doing.

When there is a stagnation this oil can help us find the way to get moving again, to find our path. Sometimes we are stuck due to anger and frustration that we are hanging onto and that we have not yet integrated. Tansy can help us start to work with these feelings and get them moving. Fear can make us feel stuck, too. Fears that come from the unconscious can be liberated with this oil.
